Resources for Supporting LGBTQ +

Well-Being

Understanding the concepts behind navigating LGBTQ + health care needs will help deliver a higher
level of patient satisfaction and overall health outcomes for this community in our service area.

In 2008, in a cooperative effort with NYSDOH Center for Community Health, the AIDS Institute developed the LGBT Health and Human Services Unit to address the non-HIV-related health disparities of LGBT persons in NYS. This initiative supports improved access to health care and supportive services, improved health outcomes and quality of life for LGBT individuals, capacity building and increased community awareness of the health and human service needs of LGBT communities across New York State.
