AHI’s Population Health Improvement Program (PHIP) has published a report, Obesity in the North Country: Prevalence of Obesity Among Adults and Youth.
The report presents and discusses national, New York State, and North Country data regarding the prevalence of obesity and overweight, as well as the socio-economic, cultural, and behavioral factors associated with obesity. It includes a series of maps depicting North Country communities that have higher percentages of residents who have been diagnosed and treated for conditions related to obesity, such as type 2 diabetes and hypertension. The report is intended to help inform regional and local discussions and strategies to address and reverse the obesity epidemic in the North Country.
