Receives Award From Peers at Crime Victims’ Rights Week Event
Robin Cristaldi, Advocate and Educator for AHI’s Sexual Trauma and Recovery Services (STARS) program, was recently honored by her peers for her exceptional advocacy efforts on behalf of sexual abuse victims in Washington County. She was also recognized for her exemplary sexual abuse prevention educational work with local schools and professionals. Cristaldi won the award at the Crime Victims’ Rights Week event hosted by the Warren and Washington County District Attorneys’ Offices, STARS, and the Warren-Washington CARE Center on April 23.
“Robin is a tireless advocate for the sexual abuse survivors we serve in Washington County. She is also fully committed to educating children in our community on sexual abuse prevention,” said Renee Swinton, STARS Program Manager. “This recognition by her peers is truly well-deserved and we’re proud to have her on our team.”
According to Swinton, each April, the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) helps lead communities throughout the country in their annual observances of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. This year’s theme—Engaging Communities, Empowering Victims—emphasized the role of the entire community, individually and collectively, in support of the victims of crime and the importance of empowering them to direct their own recovery.
Sexual Trauma and Recovery Services (STARS) is a program that provides free, confidential services to sexual assault survivors in Washington County. Services include a 24-hour hotline — 1-800-225-7114 — crisis intervention, short-term counseling, information and referrals, medical and legal advocacy, support groups and child abuse prevention programs.
