Health Literacy Within the AHI PPS

April 28, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

The AHI PPS is sponsoring a series of customized training modules, beginning in January 2017, focused on cultural competency, health literacy, and addressing regional health disparities.

This second module in the training series is: Health Literacy within the AHI PPS.

Content will focus on developing an understanding of health literacy, its role in providing high quality care and services, and resources for improving both organizational and individual health literacy. Trainers and CBO presenters will then examine the impact of mental health and substance abuse on an individual’s ability to advocate for, and communicate with providers about, their health and wellness. Evidence-based practices for promoting health literacy and improved health outcomes for individuals with mental health and substance abuse challenges will be presented and discussed.

These are 1-day training sessions with a limit of 25 participants per day. In-person attendance is required. There will be no option for teleconference.

Friday, April 28, 2017  9:00am-4:00pm, The Queensbury Hotel, 88 Ridge Street, Glens Falls

Light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Presented by Adirondack Health Institute in partnership with Wilma Alvarado-Little and Gregory Owens with contributions from regional community-based organization representatives.
