Individuals who are uninsured or who receive Medicaid benefits often face multiple barriers to accessing health care and other essential services. While some aspects of navigating the current health care delivery system seem to be universal, others are unique and specific to different communities. To better understand how to improve access to health care at the community level in St. Lawrence County, the AHI Performing Provider System (PPS) is hosting a public forum at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Canton on April 13.
“We are pleased to be partnering with AHI on this effort,” said Dr. Eileen Raymond, Co-Chair of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton’s Social Action Committee. “Inequality of health care access is a serious problem in our region. It is important to identify the barriers facing many here in the North Country. We cannot begin to solve these problems without finding out what is keeping our neighbors from accessing the care they need. We hope folks will come out to share their experiences so we can work together on solutions.”
