With funding support from the AHI Performing Provider System, the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity of Clinton and Franklin Counties, Inc. has converted two mini-buses into mobile farmers’ markets. The mobile markets travel Monday through Friday to towns across Franklin County selling fresh produce and baked goods. Proceeds from the market go toward the purchase of seeds and equipment for the following year, creating a pattern of self-sufficiency. “The market has been an outstanding success,” said Richard LaVigne, JCEO Director of Food Service. “I’ve had calls from everywhere asking about how we set it up and how it works. We’ve also provided many tours to people who want to replicate it in their own communities.”
