- Applications for the 2015 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Now OpenThe Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program is accepting applications until February 26. Announced by the U.S. Department of Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the purpose of this program is to address nurse shortages in under-served areas, including at Critical Access Hospitals, Disproportionate Share Hospitals, public hospitals, Federally Qualified Health Centers, skilled nursing facilities, and rural clinics. The complete list of eligible locations is available on the application website. The 2015 application cycle is expected to be very competitive and applicants are encouraged to apply early. - Licensed Social Work Loan Forgiveness Funds AnnouncedThe New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) announced the availability of funding for loan forgiveness for social workers in under-served areas. To be eligible, an applicant must be a legal resident of New York State, a U.S. citizen, a social worker professionally licensed to practice in the state, have an outstanding balance on a student loan, have at least one year of qualified experience, be in compliance with the terms of any service condition posed by a state award, and not be in default on any state or federal student loan.
