STARS Receives Funding From Tri-County United Way

STARS has received backing from Tri-County United Way to continue their sexual assault prevention education efforts in Washington County.

According to Renee Swinton, STARS Program Manager, the program’s prevention education is offered primarily in schools, but is also available to the greater Washington County community.

“Tri-County United Way’s support is critical to our mission to offer free sexual assault and rape prevention education programs,” said Swinton. “Without their backing, the continuation of prevention education was in peril.”

“Our volunteers certainly appreciate the amazing work which STARS does,” said Barbara Sweet, Executive Director, Tri-County United Way.

Sexual Trauma and Recovery Services (STARS) provides a wide range of free and confidential services to victims of sexual assault in Washington County – past or present, children or adults, friends or family. In addition to support from Tri-County United Way, the program receives funding from the New York State Office of Victim Services.
